Thanks, Quarantine.

Thanks, Quarantine.

The past few months has been admittedly really difficult. Whether you’ve been personally impacted by Covid or feel simply feel the sheer weight of what’s happened, there is no doubt it’s been heartbreaking.

I went into our new stay-at-home phase with lots of plans. Some I accomplished, some I didn’t. But one thing is for sure, I am deeply thankful for the experience.

I’m thankful for 2 months at home with my husband and doggies.

I’m thankful for having the good fortune to still have work, work with an amazing team and company and continue to work from home.

I’m thankful for the chance to spend several months of quality time with my 13-year old Golden Retriever, Daisy Mae, before she passed away suddenly last month. I was able to take her to vet appointments, hold her paw when she wasn’t doing well and be with her every second, giving her all the love and attention she deserved.

I’m thankful that I got to see my husband at work everyday. It was so fun to get a firsthand peek into what he does everyday. It helped me get to know him even better.

I’m thankful we were able to tackle some major house projects. We were able to be home while contractors were here to answer questions. We refinished our wrap around deck, installed new knobs in the kitchen, new exterior lights on the house, cleaned up the garage and even posted bikes for sale.

During this time, I got sick too - with bronchitis. I’ve never coughed so much - actually it was my first cough. It was anxiety-inducing as it lasted for well over a month. With that said, I was able to have tele-medicine appointments thanks to my husband’s incredible insurance and had access to doctors quickly, without more than a few hours notice.

I’m thankful that I have a little home gym with a Spinning bike, weights and a bench. I was able to start working out again and recover from having a cough.

I’m also thankful for the garden we have and the time Quarantine allowed for preparing, replanting and daily walks around to see what was growing (or not).

Quarantine reminded me how important home is. How important it is to stay grounded. And to take time to go inward, reflect, stop everything and just be.

Also, toilet paper. I really took it for granted before.
